Everton appeal against second Premier League points deduction

Everton have launched an appeal over their second points deduction.

The Toffees lost two points earlier this month and will now launch a formal appeal against their sanction for breaching the Premier League’s financial rules.

The appeal process must be concluded before May 24, five days after the final match of the Premier League season on May 19.

The Toffees have yet to be safe from relegation and are currently just two points behind with 27 points.

Everton’s second round of points deductions comes after they admitted a financial breach of £16.6million for the three-year cycle to the 2022/23 campaign.

This saw them drop a place in the rankings to 16th.

The Toffees’ first points deduction this season came in November, with Sean Dyche’s side handed 10 points for breaching profit and sustainability rules.

An appeal then led to this figure being reduced to six points in February.

Meanwhile, fellow relegation candidates Nottingham Forest have also received a four-point deduction this season for breaching Premier League financial rules.

Forest – who sit one place below Everton in the table and one point off the table – have also launched an appeal against the decision.
