While they may have lost several users along the way to the new pricing structures, Evernote remains one of the most popular note-taking and productivity apps. A few months ago, they finally released their first major overhaul in years and now they’re bringing the next major update for 2021. Users will now be able to see all the important and heavily used features on their home dashboard. thanks to widgets. Basic, plus and premium users will be able to enjoy different widgets depending on the plan they have subscribed to.
When you open your Evernote software, Home is the first thing you’ll see, which will be made up of whatever widgets you’ve chosen or are available to you. For basic and higher users, three default widgets are available. First, you either have recent notes to continue the ones you were working on before, or suggested notes that Evernote will give you the ones it thinks you want to open. The second widget is called the Scratch Pad, which allows you to quickly capture thoughts, numbers, or whatever you need to jot down immediately, then convert it to a note later if needed. The third widget shows you recently captured web clips, images, documents, audio, and emails.
For Premium and Business users, you will get all three along with other additional widgets with more advanced features. You get a Notebooks widget which you can also choose from Recent or Suggested. You also have a Pinned Note section where you can easily see the note you use every day like a to-do list or a password list. There is also a Tags widget where you can see the most frequently used tags for easy access. Finally, you can access your shortcuts in the Shortcuts wdiget.
Another benefit for Premium or Business subscribers is that they will be able to resize, rearrange or remove widgets so that you can customize your home dashboard according to your wishes. You can also change your background image by choosing one from the pre-loaded image gallery or you can upload your own as well. They say this is just the start and that they will be bringing more features in the coming months.
The Evernote Home dashboard will roll out for Mac, Windows, and Evernote Web users in the coming weeks. They said they would roll it out to Android users as well, although no timeline was mentioned.
