Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke say they have no recollection of the evenings they spent together during the early years of their friendship.

In their latest project, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is slated for release later this month, Ewan and Ethan play half-brothers Raymond and Ray, who are reunited at the funeral of their father, with whom the two had a less-than-ideal relationship.

The film’s logline reads, “Somehow they still have a sense of humor and his funeral is a chance for them to reinvent themselves.”

“There’s anger, there’s pain, there’s madness, maybe there’s love and there’s definitely grave digging.”

Raymond and Ray reunite Ewan with Oscar nominee Sophie Okonedo – whom he previously starred with in Christopher Robin (2018), Stormbreaker (2006) and Scenes of a Sexual Nature (2006).

The 54-year-old beauty plays Kiera, the hospice nurse to McGregor and Hawke’s father, who “brings world-weary Ray out of his torpor.”

The film, written and directed by Rodrigo Garcia (Last Days in the Desert), debuted in theaters on October 14 before arriving on Apple TV Plus on October 21.
