Erik ten Hag responds to Marcus Rashford over Paris Saint-Germain rumors as Manchester United boss insists England star is ‘really important’ and stays at Old Trafford

Erik ten Hag has insisted Marcus Rashford is not going anywhere this summer, following reports linking the Manchester United forward with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The French champions are admirers of the England star, with their interest dating back to last summer.

Talk of their interest and a possible offer in the final three weeks of the transfer window has accelerated in the past 24 hours, with new PSG manager Christophe Galtier keen to sign a new striker.

A number of pundits have even urged Man United and Rashford to shake things up, saying the out-of-form striker could benefit from a change of scenery and a new challenge.

However, Ten Hag quickly decided to quash any talk of Rashford’s departure from Old Trafford, insisting the 24-year-old remains an “important” part of his plans.

Rashford has entered the final 12 months of his contract with United, but the club have the option of triggering another year which would see the England international tied to the club until 2024.

The Red Devils are believed to be relaxed over PSG’s interest in their academy graduate, despite reports that Rashford’s brother and agent met with officials from Ligue 1 club Ten last week. Hag now admitting he doesn’t want to lose No.10.

“He’s really important,” Ten Hag said in his Friday press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash against Brentford.

“You’ve seen from day one I’m really happy with him, I definitely don’t want to lose him.

“He is in our plans and he will stay at Manchester United.”

Interest from PSG is believed to be in its infancy and no offers have yet been made for the striker, but should the Parisians make an opening offer it would provide a huge test of Rashford’s determination with the opportunity to play in Galtier’s forward-thinking team. alongside superstars Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

For now, Rashford remains deflated in a team lacking direction, made worse by their opening matchday loss at home to Brighton last Sunday.

With three weeks remaining in the transfer window, this could all be a ploy to force United’s hand in contract talks.

Either way, losing Rashford in a summer when top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo has pledged a move away from the club, along with the failure to land his top targets, would present a huge risk ahead of what was meant to be a season of renewed optimism at Old Trafford.
