Dier seemed to face a fan in the crowd

However, shortly after the match, there were ugly scenes involving the English midfielder Dier, with numerous videos circulating on social media showing him climbing into the stands to face some supporters.

The 26-year-old appears to be climbing onto seats to face a group of fans.

You can see an extract from the incident below …

After the match, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho said Dier’s reaction was angry because a supporter had insulted his brother.

The Portuguese said: “I don’t think it’s part of the game.

“The match was a fantastic representation of the FA Cup, but I can’t get away from it.

“I think Eric Dier has done what we, as professionals, can only do when someone insults you and your family, especially your younger brother.”

He added: “This person insulted Eric, the younger brother was not satisfied with the situation and Eric was not happy. As professionals, we cannot do what he has done. “

The fifth round match ended 1-1 after 120 minutes following the cancellation of Jan Vertonghen’s header by Josip Drmic, who had benefited from a fatal error by Spurs goalkeeper Michel Vorm, who was disputing his first match in 18 months.

And it was Tim Krul who was the hero of the visitors, saving from Troy Parrott and Gedson Fernandes to book with him a first quarterfinal of FA Cup since 1992.

Daniel Farke’s men will now face Derby or Manchester United in a welcome distraction from their relegation fight.
