The Rock’s impactful return briefly overshadowed Cody Rhodes’ expected WrestleMania 40 slot, but the situation was resolved. He then delivered a convincing villainous promo on last week’s Friday Night SmackDown. However, Eric Bischoff isn’t exactly happy that The Rock turned heel last week.
In the final segment of last week’s Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock revealed his alignment with The Bloodline, criticizing WWE fans for choosing Cody Rhodes as the headliner of WrestleMania 40 over witnessing his clash with Roman Reigns.
Speaking about Strictly commercial, Eric Bischoff admitted that he found it difficult to see The Rock in a villainous role. Despite his reservations, Bischoff acknowledged that if this was the direction The Great One chose, he would give it the benefit of the doubt and watch as the storyline evolved.
“Let’s see how this goes.” I have trouble. My gut reaction is: ew, why? No, but look, he’s an incredible artist and if that’s what Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has decided is what he wants to do, then I’d definitely give him the benefit of the doubt. Let’s see where it goes.”
Ringside News also exclusively reported that several key figures were involved in The Rock’s promotional segment. It remains to be seen how WWE will continue to book The Bloodline storyline as we slowly approach WrestleMania 40.
