Epic Games could be Sony’s most important partner right now

We know that Sony has invested heavily in Epic Games over the years, but it’s clear that the company holds its partnership with the Fortnite maker in very high regard. During its corporate strategy meeting, the Japanese giant dropped the creator of Unreal Engine multiple times, across a variety of different mediums.

Obviously, we know that Unreal Engine 5 is likely to become the de facto game creation engine for most developers this generation, but Sony Pictures is also leveraging the technology for innovative new movie production setups, some of which it allow you to create “virtual scenes”. on which the actors can deliver their performances.

So perhaps it’s no surprise that Sony has invested billions of dollars in the American company – and we wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up increasing its stake. Of course, it’s not the only investor pouring money into Epic Games, as Chinese titan Tencent also owns a 40% stake in the company, while Disney purchased a 1.5 billion stake dollars in the organization earlier this year.
