Saturday’s game will be the first for New England head coach Steve Borthwick as he takes over a team from Eddie Jones.
This year’s Six Nations will be the last competitive action for the teams ahead of this fall’s World Cup in France.
England are considered favorites to win their opening game, but have beaten the Scots just once in the last five attempts.
Borthwick, the former Leicester head coach who guided the Tigers to the Premiership title last year, made eight changes to the XV who started the last game of the Jones era in November’s home defeat against South Africa.
The most notable changes to the squad were the omission of Sale winger Manu Tuilagi and the debut of London Irish winger Ollie Hassell-Collins.
England have won just one of their four Autumn Internationals, which coupled with six defeats in the last 10 Six Nations has been seen as the last straw for Jones as he saw the bag.
Gregor Townsend’s Scottish side will imagine themselves upsetting the English at Twickenham, a place where they have been unbeaten since 2017.
Kyle Steyn was selected on the wing in place of the injured Darcy Graham, while Huw Jones was selected ahead of Chris Harris to partner Sione Tuipulotu in midfield; Ben White will wear jersey 9.
Townsend’s side have won two of their fall matches, beating Fiji and Argentina and losing by just one point to Australia and just eight to New Zealand.
