England face their toughest challenge for World Cup glory yet when they take on France for a place in the last four at the weekend.

The Three Lions ruthlessly sent Senegal 3-0 down to set up a quarter-final clash with the defending champions and it will be live on talkSPORT.

Jordan Henderson opened the scoring against Senegal

2018 World Cup winner Harry Kane finally managed to score against the Teranga Lions either side of goals from Jordan Henderson and Bukayo Saka.

And Gareth Southgate will need the Tottenham talisman firing full throttle when his side take on this year’s competition top scorer Kylian Mbappe.

The Blues also made light work of their last 16 opponents, with Mbappe scoring twice and assisting another in a routine 3-1 win over Poland.

England v France: Squad rosters and news

Raheem Sterling has left the World Cup camp to return to the UK ahead of the game against Senegal after armed intruders burst into his home overnight and it remains to be confirmed whether he will return.

Arsenal defender Ben White has also left camp and will be a confirmed absentee, with Southgate also set to decide which of Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford and Saka will partner Kane in attack.

Meanwhile, France are without Karim Benzema through injury, which means Olivier Giroud will launch his attack again alongside Mbappe.

England vs France: what was said?

Stuart Pearce has outlined the special plans England need to put in place to quash Mbappe’s World Cup quarter-final threat.

When asked how you stop Mbappe, the England legend told talkSPORT: “Kyle Walker is going to have to have the match of his life, there’s no doubt about it.

“We’re going to have to stop the supply line to him.

“They have a front four and real talent in that front four, with Mbappe being the pick of the lot with his pace, energy and goal threat.

“You have to prevent the ball from going into him and then double up on him when he has the ball. To do that, you have to press aggressively.
