Leah Williamson and Jill Scott have proven that their glory in England has certainly not gone to their heads.
The Lionesses duo were part of the side that beat Germany in the European Championships final in July as Chloe Kelly struck a winner in extra time at a sold-out Wembley.
With the focus once again on the men’s national team as they prepare for this summer’s World Cup in Qatar, England skipper Williamson and former midfielder Scott, now retired, have been invited to attend the UEFA Nations League Three Lions clash with Germany.
The duo sported their medals at the home of English football and in an interview with Channel Four they joked how their sporting achievements have seen them receive free food and drink as part of their newfound celebrity status.
Asked if they are now living the high life, Arsenal midfielder Williamson said: “It’s the high life, but we’re just begging for tickets!
“Jill is wearing this [her medal] get out there and get around so she can get free coffees so she does what she can to live that great life, we’re just jumping on the bandwagon!
Speaking about their seats in the executive boxes at Wembley for the men’s team clash against Germany, Scott added: “I’ve never, ever been in these boxes before so it’s amazing to be here. .
“To be honest, I’m just looking forward to watching the game, but we also have free food, so that’s a bonus!”
The England women return to the pitch at Wembley Stadium on October 7 when they take on the United States.
The Americans are the highest ranked team in the world and will give the Lionesses their first real test since winning the European Championship.
