Emmanuel Adebayor is adamant there is no turning back for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal as he insisted Gunners fans ‘never know how to forgive’.

Adebayor learned first-hand how to go from hero to zero with Arsenal supporters when he joined Manchester City from the north London club in 2009.

The former Togolese international was a success at the Emirates, scoring 62 goals in 142 appearances in four years at the club to make a name for himself as one of England’s finest strikers at the time.

However, his time at City inevitably made him unpopular with Arsenal fans, who insisted he only join their rivals for the money after they were snapped up by billionaire owner Sheikh Mansour.

However, Adebayor became the ultimate figure of hate for his infamous celebration at the Etihad in September 2009.

After scoring in City’s 4-2 win, Adebayor ran the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of traveling Gunners fans in what was one of the most iconic moments in Premier League history. League.

Aubameyang, who was sacked as Arsenal captain in December for a culmination of disciplinary issues, is going through an equally difficult time at the club and Adebayor believes there may be no way back for him. his fellow African.

He said: “I know he will definitely go through a lot because it’s Arsenal for you. You can’t do what you do.

“They never learn or they never knew how to forgive. So, I know he will go through a lot.

“But he’s a strong player, he’s a good player, he’s a fantastic player. I wish him the best.

“I already messaged him because we just want him to bounce back.

“He is our African brother and we want him to continue to represent Africa as he did before the problem.”

Adebayor was then asked if he thought there was a way back for him, to which he replied: “At Arsenal, I don’t think so.

“That’s what I know because it happened to me too. Not in the same way, but a way back? At Arsenal I would be surprised [if he had a future].

“But as I tell you, he’s a great player so let’s see how he ends up.”
