The Beatles changed the direction of the music industry with their innovative approach. Elton John witnessed the band’s rise to prominence, but it turns out he didn’t foresee their success when he first heard them.
Living legend Elton John is a musician who can impress anyone with his musical knowledge, having witnessed many memorable eras in the rock scene throughout his 50-year career. While speaking in an interview with Raised On Radio recently, he revealed his first impression of The Beatles which surprised everyone.
John said his friend Michael Johnson introduced him to the band when he was a student at Pinner County Grammar School. His friend came to see him with enthusiasm to make him listen to ‘Love Me Do’ and told him that the Beatles would be the greatest band in the world. The singer admitted that he thought the song was ‘not bad‘ and he doubted that the group could be the greatest group in the history of music. The musician confessed that his friend was right.
He also pointed out that the Beatles were “amazing” and revolutionized the recording process by using simple equipment to sing their fantastic songs. The rocker revealed that when ‘We can make it happen‘ came out, he was at the Papagayo Club with his Bluesology buddies, and this song from the ‘Revolver’ album became his favorite of the Beatles.
Elton John said the following about his first impression of The Beatles:
“I remember being in school at a high school in Pinner County, and my friend Michael Johnson came over with a 45 and said, ‘I just heard this band, they’re gonna be the biggest band. of the world and it was “Love Me”. I listened to it and I thought, “That’s not bad”, but I couldn’t see they were going to be the biggest band in the world, and it turned out he was right. I think he was number four in our fan club.
So he spotted them a mile away and of course what the 50s did with rock and roll and the Beatles was extraordinary. They revolutionized the way things were recorded. Even though it was pretty simple equipment, they experimented and they wrote some fantastic songs. ‘We can fix that.’ It was just a wonderful song, and when I was in Central Park at the Papagayo Club with the band Bluesology, ‘Revolver’ came out, and it was a big part of my life. But I chose ‘We Can Work It’ because I love the song.
