Eiza Gonzalez was heartbroken when she lost the role of Catwoman in The Batman.
The 30-year-old actress’s camera tested the role of Selina Kyle and her alter-ego Catwoman in the next DC Comics film after being short-listed by director Matt Reeves, but ultimately lost the role when Zoe Kravitz was chosen instead.
And Eiza said she had made her role hopeful after “ living and dreaming about the character, ” which left her devastated when she didn’t get the role, she told the Hollywood Reporter .

When asked if she imagined herself in the role, she replied, “ It’s impossible not to do it, especially when you’re so far away. This is one of the reasons why you are so far on the line because you live and dream of the character.
“ For my preparation for each role, I’m a little weird, especially when I’m already at the camera test stage or really in depth.
“I will live and breathe the character; I am more traditional in this sense. It is heartbreaking; it’s always difficult. You have to imagine yourself in the role in order to see the role. You cannot have one foot in and one foot outside.

While missing roles is disappointing, Eiza knows it’s all part of the job and says that rejection in one film often leads to a whole new role in another.
She added: “ I go through grief afterwards. I always explain it as the relationship you are working on.
“You fall in love, you go through all the stages – and it never really solidifies. It is therefore this process that never closes; it’s going away. So it looks like a relationship that has come to nothing.

“ It is always heartbreaking, but what I have learned over time, these relationships that you organize and the people you meet do not disappear. I have been in situations where they have seen me for different roles that have not worked – but then they come for something else.
The Bloodshot star feels “lucky and grateful” to work on “incredible projects,” even if she doesn’t get all the roles she wants.
“The beauty of our industry is that it is endless; it always evolves and changes. I’m just lucky and grateful to have had the chance to meet amazing directors and be part of amazing projects.
“Growing up in Mexico, I never thought I would do these kinds of projects.”
