Amiable restaurateur Earl of Bradford was devastated when his beloved first wife, Jo, abandoned him just days after their silver wedding anniversary.
So I’m sorry to hear that he’s been deprived again after his second wife, Penelope, leaves him. He confirms the breakup by telling me, “I’m so sorry that our marriage ended in divorce.”
The Earl, 74, also known as Richard Bridgeman, refuses to discuss his marriage breakdown, but a friend of his tells me: “He’s devastated. Penny has asked powerful divorce attorneys Vardags, who are pushing for a big settlement, but Richard just doesn’t have that kind of money.

Yesterday there was a divorce hearing at the High Court in London.
The Countess of Bradford, 60, is an obstetrician and gynecologist known as Dr Penelope Law at Portland Private Hospital in London, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son Archie was born.
Author of the Expecting A Baby delivery guide, she is lightly called a doctor who is “too fancy to shoot” because of the number of cesarean sections she has had.
She married former candidate Ukip Richard in 2008 (pictured). They were presented by his daughter Alicia at a £ 38,454 per year awards show at rugby school.
She is the mother of one of Alicia’s classmates. The wedding took place near Weston Park, his family’s former stately home on the Shropshire-Staffordshire border.
Penny has admitted in the past that her professional success has come at a cost to her personal life and that being on call has turned her social life upside down.
“No one would come to my house for lunch,” she said. “Because twice I let them cook their own lunch. ”
The Earl, who ran the English restaurant Porters in Covent Garden, has four children with his first wife, the daughter of Mayfair bookmaker Benjamin Miller.

But she has now revealed that she “had to relearn to walk” after undergoing major hip surgery.
Sophie Dahl “had to learn to walk again” after undergoing hip surgery
Sophie, 44, who is an author like her famous grandfather Roald Dahl, says she has fought a debilitating battle with hip dysplasia since childhood.
“It wasn’t picked up when I was a kid,” says Sophie, pictured before the operation.
“So I had surgery a few years ago where they cut my pelvis all the way around the acetabulum to create adequate hip cavities.”
Sophie, who has two children with her jazz musician husband Jamie Cullum, refers to the example of Roald’s first wife, Oscar winner Patricia Neal.
She said, “Every time I felt sorry for myself I thought of my grandmother, who had three brain aneurysms at age 39, which made her paralyzed and speechless, and I pulled myself together and was trying to climb the stairs again.
David Cameron was clearly not amused by the indiscretions about him recorded in the diaries of Sasha Swire, wife of his old pal and compatriot Etonian Hugo Swire.
Today, former Foreign Secretary Hugo tried to cheer Cameron up, who was embroiled in a lobbying scandal over his involvement in failing company Greensill Capital.
“Hugo exchanged texts with David and suggested a lunch for him,” Sasha reveals at the Cheltenham Literature Festival.
“But David said, why would he want to end up as the first chapter of your wife’s next collection of diaries?” Hugo told her not to worry – Sasha was too busy writing Greensill The Musical. ‘

The employment of Boris Johnson’s wife, Carrie, as his “spin doctor” appears to have emboldened casino and wildlife park heir Damian Aspinall to make strange demands on No10.
I can reveal that he sent an email asking the Prime Minister to shut down London Zoo. Aspinall said: “In ten years or less, urban zoos or zoos under 50 acres are expected to be closed or only contain a maximum number of animals.”
The email was sent in April, three months after Carrie started working for him. It was published under freedom of information laws.

Spend £ 900 on dinner, says TV chef
How much would you pay for a fine meal?
According to Daniel Clifford, star of the BBC’s Great British Menu, diners should expect to shell out nearly £ 1,000 per person at a top restaurant.
Discussing how ‘cheap’ it is to eat out in Britain, the two Michelin star chef says: ‘I went to Paris for dinner and our bill was £ 900 each. We had no fancy wine, we had four courses in a three star restaurant and we all walked away from there and said, “It’s full. [of diners]. ”
“One of London’s most expensive restaurants is the trendy Nusr-Et in Knightsbridge, run by the flamboyant chef known as ‘Salt Bae’.
But Clifford explodes: “Do you want a [£630] steak cooked by Mickey Mouse or do you want to come to a two star restaurant where you have 15 chefs who care about everything they do?
“There is a big difference, isn’t there? “
