He told the Express: “It’s an operation that has a 20 per cent chance of going wrong, but such is the pain and restrictions I’ve been going through for 18 months, I’ve decided it’s a risk that I am ready to take.
“Actually, it’s a risk I want to take because, right now, nothing can seem worse than the constant pain going through my lower back and legs.”
He said he “prays for God to guide [his] the surgeon’s hand this week” to help him become “the man he was”.
Nervous: The TV personality said he ‘prayed’ as doctors cut his back in a bid to relieve pressure on his static nerves
He then revealed to the publication that the agony can be so intense that sleep is sometimes its own “escape”.
He added that someone can be surrounded by family and friends, but severe pain can feel like your companion.
Before saying that he hopes his recovery can offer hope to those who can no longer cope with their anger depression with chronic pain.

Former This Morning host Eamonn left GB News viewers wondering where he was when he wasn’t on screen, with the reporter taking to Twitter to clear things up, writing: ‘A lot of among you have asked why I did not present GB News.
“Unfortunately, due to the recurrence of a long-lasting back condition, I had to undergo unexpected hospital treatment and am now following doctor’s orders by taking a short leave.

“However, I can’t wait to be back alongside Isabel, my co-presenter and friend from Breakfast, next week.

“I now just need time with my family to heal and recover.”
It comes after he hit Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield again, accusing them both of ‘lying’ about not skipping the queue to see the queen lying in state.
Treatment: Eamonn has already shown his followers a glimpse of his treatment for the disease via Instagram
Holly and Philip were accused of skipping the queue at Westminster Hall in London last week as tens of thousands of mourners patiently waited 12 hours straight to pay their respects to Her Majesty.
The presenters then issued a statement insisting they had not skipped the queue and “respected” the rules for the media, saying their visit was “strictly for reporting”.
Speaking at the GB News Breakfast on Wednesday, Eamonn made no secret of the fact that he didn’t believe his former colleagues and said they had “screwed up”.
Chatting with presenter Clare Muldoon, Eamonn said: “I’ll tell you what’s strategic. Why is Holly fighting to keep her job, according to The Sun, but not Mr. Phillip?
Claire replied, “Who knows? Twitter last night said she didn’t want to quit her job at This Morning.
“Who wouldn’t want to give up £600,000 a year and everything that goes with it? I think the mark is very damaged. There must be a change from top to bottom this morning.

Eamonn then read Holly and Phillip’s statement, saying, “‘We didn’t skip the queue, we were working.’ Why was your boss working with you?
Referring to a photo of Holly wearing a mask inside Westminster Hall, Clare asked: ‘Why was she wearing a mask? Is she allergic to the public?
Eamonn replied: ‘No, she does that. “Holly is in tears”, but Holly is still in tears. But wearing a mask – I think she’s quite fearful, germophobic.
