Turns out NFL players sometimes have trouble parking for games, too. Philadelphia Eagles punt returner Britain Covey had to park among fans before heading to Lincoln Financial Field for the Eagles’ game Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings.
According to ESPN, Covey was denied access to the players’ pitch for two reasons: he wasn’t promoted from the practice squad to the active roster in time and didn’t have the correct pass. parking lot, and also, the security personnel didn’t recognize him. !
“I said, ‘I got elevated on the active roster. I’m a comeback guy,'” Covey told ESPN. “They kind of looked at me skeptically, and after a little while they were like, ‘Listen, man. We are sorry. You just don’t have the pass. I didn’t want to make a scene so I just said, ‘OK, just show me where everyone is parking.’ And so they told me where Everybody other parks.
Covey then parked at a fan park, where his parking pass was accepted. However, the pitch was a quarter mile from the stadium and Covey had to ask the fans for directions. Interestingly, some fans recognized this.
“A couple of them were looking at me like, ‘I feel like this guy is…’ and finally I was like, ‘Are we ready for the game?’ And they said, ‘Yes, you are?’ ”
The Utah product is listed at 5-foot-8 and 173 pounds on the Eagles’ official roster, so he didn’t exactly stand out in the crowd as fans headed into the prime-time game. Once Covey arrived at the stadium, he returned three punts for 14 yards in the 24-7 win over Minnesota.
