Eagles, Jalen Hurts run all over the Packers, and the college football coaching carousel spins

0

Good Monday morning to all and especially to those who have Josh Jacobs in their fantasy football team.

Let’s cut to the chase.

Five of football

Before diving into regular programming, here’s what the NFL playoff picture looks like at the moment:

Hello everyone, but especially to…

THE LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

Faced with a third consecutive defeat, the Chargers shown that with Justin Herbert behind the center, they are still very dangerous. Herbert threw a touchdown pass to Austin Ekeler with only 15 seconds left, then found Gerald Everett on a well-engineered two-point conversion to propel the loaders past the Cardinals25-24.

  • Herbert made 18 consecutive passes at one point. Above all, he had no interceptions for the first time since week 5. He also led the team with 38 rushing yards.
  • The Chargers’ defense grew late, forcing three consecutive three-and-outs in the fourth quarterthe last of which set up the winning drive.
  • With this victory, the Chargers (6-5) remain only one game away from a playoff spot.

I loved the Chargers head coach Brandon Staley go for the two-point conversion. He put the ball in the hands of his best player, and his best player got away with it.

Honorable Mentions

And not such a good morning for…

BALTIMORE CROWS

For once, the crows put yourself in a position where not even justin tucker could dig them up. Baltimore lost another late lead, falling to the jaguars28-27.

The crows have an NFL record three losses while leading by at least two possessions in the fourth quarter this seasonand in this one – just like the other two – they have no one to blame but themselves. In what proved crucial, Baltimore had just two touchdowns and three field goals in five trips to the red zone.

  • Baltimore turned the ball over twice, leading Jacksonville by 10 points. The Ravens are now 1-3 when they return multiple times and 6-1 when they don’t.
  • On the winning path, the Jaguars overcame a 3rd and 21 and a 4th and 6 from deep in their own territory.
  • It’s the The Jaguars’ first victory as they trailed by seven or more points in the final minute. They had been 0-175 in those situations.
  • The Ravens rank last in yards per game allowed, yards per game allowed and points allowed in the fourth quarter.

Combine that loss with the Bengals’ impressive win, and there’s a tie atop the AFC North standings (although Baltimore owns the tiebreaker).

Not so honorable mentions

  • It was a difficult weekend for North Carolina. The No. 1 ranked men’s basketball team lost at Iowa State on Friday and Alabama (in four overtimes) Sunday. And the football team lost against NC status.

College football recap: Michigan strangles Ohio State, Texas A&M shocks LSU 🏈

They will remember it for a very long time in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They may remember it even longer in Columbus, Ohio. Michigan came to the Horseshoe and crushed Ohio State, 45-23, for his second consecutive win over the Buckeyes.

It’s the first time the Wolverines have won The Game in consecutive years since 1999-2000. The Wolverine offense made its way with the Buckeye defense en route to their highest number of points in The Game since 1946.

  • JJ McCarthy threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns – 69 and 75 yards for Cornelius Johnson and 45 meters to Colston Loveland. He is the first player in rivalry history with three touchdown passes of at least 45 yards in a game.
  • McCarthy charged from three yards to make it 31-20 early in the fourth quarter, and Donovan Edwards provided exclamation points with touchdown passes for 75 and 85 yards. That came with a star in reverse Blake Corum (knee) barely playing.
  • As for the defence, Taylor Upshaw and Makari Paige both intercepted C.J. Stroud in the fourth trimester. Mike Sainristilwho had a broken touchdown pass, planted the Michigan flag in midfield after the game.

Quite simply, Michigan has dominated, surpassed and outclassed Ohio Statewrites our college football reporter Dennis Dodd.

  • Dodd: “The Michigan team that couldn’t execute it (9 yards in the first half) suddenly piled it down the Buckeyes’ throat (243 yards in the second half). The team without the favorite de Heisman (Stroud) saw his five-star quarterback (McCarthy) burst with three long touchdown passes The team that just a year ago couldn’t beat Ohio State to save his life with eight straight streak losses now has his most hated rival. Who’s your dad? Buckeyes?”

Tom Fornell wonders how hot Ryan Day’s seat isand the Buckeyes got an “F” in Barrett Sallee’s Weekly Notes. Jim Harbaughas for him, was one of the big winners of the weekendwrites Shehan Jeyarajah.

Perhaps equally shocking was Texas A&M — in the midst of a losing season — leading him to LSU, 38-23. The Tigers were No. 5 in college football playoff standings, and as long as they still play Georgia in the SEC Championship, their playoff chances are gone. USC is online to take advantage of it, and Caleb Williams may have taken the lead from Heisman as the Trojans outscored Notre Dame, 38-27. We’ll see how high they officially go tomorrow, but our bowl tipster Jerry Palm has them like the four seeds.
