Derek Hough takes a break from judgment to perform again in the Dancing with the Stars Ballroom. He will dance alongside his girlfriend, Hayley.
Former champion of Dancing with the stars and current judge Derek Hough will return to the dance floor alongside his girlfriend Hayley Ebert. Derek is currently a replacement judge for Len Goodman, who has been unable to return to the United States from the United Kingdom due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Derek Hough first made his Dancing with the stars debut as a professional dancer in season five of the show. He appeared on the show as a professional dancer for 9 years (17 seasons) before taking a break to work on other projects. Derek also holds the record for most wins in the series, winning the Mirror Ball Trophy six times. The dancing champion is now back in the ballroom, but this time he’s on the judges’ side. The Mirror Ball wasn’t the only thing Derek won during his time on the show. He also met his current dancer girlfriend and colleague, Hayley Ebert, at the competition. Hayley spent six seasons dancing for the show. Most recently, the dancing duo have been seen performing together on the Disney Family Singalong special.

While Derek is just a judge this season rather than a pro, that doesn’t mean he won’t be hitting the dance floor anytime soon. According to TV guide, Derek will take out his dancing shoes and return to the Dancing with the stars dance floor for a special performance alongside his girlfriend, Hayley. Derek verified the news during a digital panel promoting The Current Dancing with the stars season Wednesday. He expressed his and Hayley’s enthusiasm for facing the ballroom together on October 19. The couple started rehearsing this week, and they woke up very sore the next morning after the rehearsal. Derek and Hayley both agreed they had work to do: “So we’re like, ‘Oh, okay, we’ve got three [weeks] to succeed“He also revealed that he recently walked around the ballroom on his own on a lunch break to recall all the dance memories he made there. Derek then expressed his gratitude for the show.”
The panel also hinted at fans of some exciting things they can look forward to this season. Confirmation of the return of the theme nights has been made, mentioning that they will take place every two weeks. The next one will be ’80s night on October 12 before the Villains Halloween theme on October 26. Fans can also expect to see a tribute to Disney star Cameron Boyce of Skai Jackson and Backstreet Boy AJ McLean dance to a Backstreet Boys song. There might even be a surprise virtual guest appearance made by his fellow boy group members.
Looks like Dancing with the stars fans had better buckle up for some exciting things to come this season. As for Derek and Hayley, I hope their pain is gone and they can enjoy every moment of dancing together for the first time in the ballroom.
