Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is fed up with people “posting bullshit.”
Johnson responded Sunday to a reporter who shared a clip of his appearance at a WWE press conference last week where attendees booed him, saying the crowd was expressing displeasure with him over his relief efforts after the wildfires in Maui last year.
Johnson explained that he tends to avoid tackling “toxic trash and fake clickbait,” but decided to make an exception this time because the People’s Fund of Maui, co-founded by Oprah Winfrey, been included in the conversation.
“I usually refrain from responding to toxic and false bullshit like this because I hate worthy bullshit with a response, but when you use the tragic events in Hawaii to draw attention to yourself, I will not stay not silent,” he wrote.
Johnson said he played the role of the heel, or villain, in the clip and WWE fans acted accordingly by booing him. “I play with our audience while they boo,” he explained. “This is what we do in our WWE Universe, and we all love every second of it.”
