The long awaited Black adam the film is about to finally become a reality. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been attached to the DC Extended Universe and has now signed up to play one of the eponymous hero’s greatest foes, Black Adam.
The idea started when Johnson was appearing in the Shazam! film that starred Zachary Levi but evolved into a larger story that called for its own adventure before their potential crossover on the big screen. Dwayne Johnson was nominated for the role of DC’s antihero, best known for starring in the comic book stories opposite Shazam! in 2014.
Black adam Johnson’s Seven Bucks Production producer and president Hiram Garcia has revealed that they will finally start filming in April. He also revealed that Black adam getting ready to start in a place familiar to the team.
Speaking of the movie, Garcia said, “We’re starting soon, you know actually, we’re starting filming in April, we’ll be in Georgia, far from home. We’re really excited man, we sped it all up, we’re so excited for this.
Garcia has been a producer on many Johnson films including Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and the next one Jungle cruise. Garcia also spoke about how passionate he and Johnson were about creating Black adam a reality. “It’s very special to us, and you know, not just Black Adam, but JSA, and all these characters that we introduce to the world and, what we want to do with them, we’re just… Look, we were supposed to have filmed. Last year. COVID, like it’s delayed everyone, got in the way a little bit, but we’re happy that we can take a break, regroup, and now we’re going to start, and in April we’ll be turning and on track to bring this stuff back. at home.
Garcia couldn’t talk too much about the film yet, but his excitement at seeing Johnson in a costume is enough to turn any fan on. “In just one fitting, it’s great,” he said. He went on to say, “The guy is a walking superhero, and if there’s ever been anyone born to play a character, it’s him. We have developed Black adam who knows how much … I feel like it’s been almost a decade at this point, we’re talking about it and about it and you see it in there and you’re like, ‘This is him, this is why we’ve been waiting, that’s why we’ve worked so hard to make this happen. This guy is Black Adam and he’s going to change the DC Universe boyfriend. He’s going to change this thing.
At last summer’s DC FanDome event, Johnson confirmed that the Justice Society will play a major role in Black adam. The film will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. Alongside Johnson, the filmmakers also played Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, Marwan Kenzari and Sarah Shahi.
The film has yet to receive a release date.
