Dwayne Johnson Shares Country Music Dreams With Kelly Clarkson
Kelly Clarkson is known to sing a bit of everything. From her pop roots to her list of “Kellyoke” covers, she’s dabbled in all genres. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, on the other hand, isn’t known to sing a lot of all genres. So what would Kelly have to invite the wrestling icon turned movie star to play a country duo? As a recent guest on his show, “The Rock” reveals that he considered various career options before WWE.
Dwayne “Country Music Star” Johnson
Appearing as a guest on his show last week, the WWE legend and actor sat down with Kelly for a video chat. She shared her recent findings that Johnson once aspired to be a country music star. Johnson confirmed this to be true and shed some light on the country star who never was. He tells a story from his teenage years when he lived in Nashville. This is where the idea of a career in country music was briefly considered.

As he recalls, he was heard singing while he was “shopping” at the store one day. Another buyer had followed the voice and was shocked to find Johnson singing the tune. After a brief conversation, she suggested that he go to Broad Street, known to country singers for its popular music scene. For a brief moment he thought he would become a country music singer until he realized that in fact he was not that good as a singer.
Kelly Clarkson and “The Rock” turn to the team
Kelly assured him he could sing, recognizing his vocal talent in Moana. She notes that Johnson’s wife is also a singer and invites them to stop by so they can all sing together. Johnson expressed his enthusiasm for the idea of a duet and sang an excerpt from “Islands In the Stream”. Kelly is looking forward to the future duo, even if that song choice might not make the show. We’ll have to stay tuned for the epic duo of “The Rock” and The Idol, The Two People’s Champions.
