It’s not all that unusual for actors from the same movie or TV show to never meet on set, especially considering that scenes are often assigned to multiple crews shooting in different locations and so right now. It’s easy to put people together in scenes, even if they didn’t film those scenes together in person.
That said, the case of semi-autobiographical show overlord Dwayne Johnson Young Rocknever having met the main cast of the story in his own life is a little odd given his close connection to the project.
Early in the show’s inception, many changes and concessions were made due to COVID-19 restrictions and the show, originally intended to be shot in Los Angeles, moved production to Australia where they shot the vast majority of the actors. scenes. Meanwhile, Johnson, along with Randall Park, shot the “future 2032” scenes in Atlanta. That meant Johnson watched the events of his life, told in the show’s signature laugh-out-loud style, from afar with only Zoom meetings and the like to connect him with most of the cast.
Now that the third season is filming in Memphis, TN, Johnson has the opportunity to mingle in person, and he posted on his Instagram page a particularly poignant encounter with Joseph Lee Anderson, who plays his father Rocky Johnson.
He also included another post which saw him kiss Ana Tuisila, who plays his grandmother Lia Maivia on the show.
It’s not hard to read the emotion and soul-searching in Johnson’s words.
There is only a little over a month left until season 3 of Young Rock premieres on NBC on Friday, November 4, and wrestling fans can expect plenty of airtime dedicated to Rocky Maivia finding his feet in the WWF, getting hyped up by fans and becoming The Rock at the start of the Attitude Era.
