There was no fresh locally caught Dungeness crab for Christmas. Or New Years.

But there’s no reason you can’t turn an old January day into a party. After a two-month delay in the opening of the commercial crab season, it’s finally time to crack.

Here’s an alphabetical roundup of the Bay Area seafood vendors and grocers who sell local crab now – or will be very soon – as well as restaurants that are adding crab dishes to their menus. However, supplies may be limited and some markets and restaurants are already reporting noon sales. Be sure to call to check availability.

SEAFOOD COUNTERS and DELIVERY SERVICES

This roundup is evolving, as many chefs are still creating their Dungeness dishes or waiting for updates on crab availability. And some seafood restaurants – including King’s Fish House at Valley Fair and Scott’s Seafood in Oakland – are temporarily closed due to shelter-to-home orders.
