It was the Eurovision legend who won the Netherlands Crystal Trophy in 2019. Now, Duncan Laurence hits hard in the United States. On today’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the reigning Eurovision Song Contestant played “Arcade” alongside the duo’s partner FLETCHER.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the pair’s performance was pre-recorded before the show.

Duncan and FLETCHER’s performance takes place on coastal stages, with Duncan and FLETCHER each on a beach. Duncan sits at a piano as he sings, much like his winning performance at Eurovision 2019. He is filmed on an austere Dutch beach, with cool spring light.
Meanwhile, FLETCHER plays his role wearing a light blue suit, standing barefoot on a beach. She is drenched in a hot pink light as she delivers murderous vocals and gorgeous harmonies.
They may have played thousands of miles apart on different continents, but the emotion of the song unites them.
Some fans may be disappointed though, as Ellen didn’t interview Duncan and FLETCHER.
Still, it’s a huge gig for Duncan. As the first star of Eurovision thanks The Ellen DeGeneres Show, it reaches an average audience of 1.5 million people. The Dutch star’s appearance on Ellen marks his second TV gig in the US – in March, he also performed “Arcade” on NBC. The show TODAY.

It’s not just American television that Duncan is conquering. This week he also appeared on iHeartRadio Inside the studio Podcast.
There the Dutch star spoke to Eurovision host Jordan Runtagh about the meaning of “Arcade” and its new success in America.
“A few months ago I got this message from my manager, he said I think you should take a look at what’s going on on TikTok – ‘Arcade’ is blowing up. Many Harry Potter fans used the song to recreate scenes from the movies to somehow cause Malfoy and Hermione, who are arch enemies in the movie, to fall in love with each other.
Since winning Eurovision and going viral on TikTok, Duncan has made his way onto the charts around the world. In February, “Arcade” returned to the UK Top 40 at number 39.
