Dr. Dre ‘enjoys being alive’ after three strokes

Dr. Dre said his experience “really makes you appreciate being alive, that’s for sure.”

The Grammy winner, 59, wondered if he could have prevented the aneurysm by focusing more on his physical strength, but learned that the condition was hereditary and unavoidable.

“High blood pressure in black men is exactly what it is. They call it the silent killer,” he explained.

African Americans and Hispanics are about twice as likely to experience a ruptured brain aneurysm as Caucasians, according to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.

An aneurysm is the enlargement of an artery caused by a weakness in the wall of a blood vessel.

Most brain aneurysms only cause visible symptoms if they burst, causing a brain hemorrhage, which can cause very serious illness and be fatal.
