White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany later said Mr. Trump highlighted the work the United States had done in response to the coronavirus to world leaders at the summit, and explained how they had rebuilt the economy and worked on securing vaccines.

The president is due to appear at the G20 for one final time on Sunday morning US time.

In tweeting on Sunday, Mr Trump referred to his scheduled appearance and media reports that he was not attending the parallel panel of leaders meeting the day before.

He wrote: “Just got to the virtual G20. Was here yesterday too (early), but some of the fake media failed to accurately report it – as usual. My speech is available (they have said I did not give a speech). “

Meanwhile, coronavirus Cases in the United States have exceeded 12 million according to Johns Hopkins University, with 255,905 related deaths. Globally, the pandemic has claimed more than 1.37 million lives.
