Miami vice-actor Don Johnson shares his daughter Dakota, 30, with ex-wife Melanie Griffith.

And in the Sunday Telegraph’s Stellar magazine, the 69-year-old woman described the 50 Shades of Gray star as “ one of the most gifted actresses alive today. ”

“Of course, I am his father, but I can also recognize the talent when I see it,” he added.

Don, who is now married to kindergarten teacher Kelley Phleger, also revealed how he has a close friendship with ex-Melanie, 62.

“It’s quite simple: when you love your children and want to share your life with them, it makes no sense to denigrate or have any animosity with their mother,” he said.

“Children mold you more than they listen to you.

Dakota is known for her role as Anna Steele in the 50 Shades of Gray franchise.

Since then, she has appeared in Suspiria, Bad Times at El Royale, Wounds and The Peanut Butter Falcon.

Dakota told US Vogue in January 2017 that she was trying to balance a career in art and commercial films.

“The stories I want to tell, the characters I want to play, don’t usually exist in huge commercial box office movies,” she said. “But it’s a deal.”

Dakota went on to say that she felt like she was “ collaborating with artists who raise her. ”

“A few years ago, I was fighting, waiting for someone to give me a chance,” she said.

“ I’m a pretty sensitive person, and when I don’t feel protected, I tend to close right away. But when I feel safe, I think I can do anything.

Dakota’s love life also made the headlines, after dating Coldplay singer Chris Martin, 42, for two years.

The couple reportedly separated earlier this year, before meeting in August.
