DK Metcalf won’t be quitting his job anytime soon. But he put in an impressive performance on his foray into athletics today.
Metcalf ran a 10.37-second 100-meter race today at the USATF Golden Games. This is an exceptional time for someone who is not really a competitive sprinter, but who finished last in a field of elite runners.
“I’m just happy to be here, excited to have the opportunity, thank God for the opportunity to race against world class athletes like this,” said Metcalf. “Just to test my speed against world class athletes like this. . . . They do this for a living. It is very different from the speed of football. “
Ato Boldon, the former Olympic sprinter who called the race for NBC Sports, was impressed with Metcalf’s performance and said he believes some of the NFL’s fastest players could have solid track careers with the good formation.
“It should encourage all the fast guys in the NFL,” Boldon said. “Tyreek Hill, are you listening? That should encourage all the fast guys in the NFL, you’re not that far away, you get the right training, maybe you get to the Olympic Trials.
Anyone who saw Metcalf on the football field knew he was fast, but seeing him on the track was a once in a lifetime experience, which showed both how awesome he was and how elite sprinters are. incredibly fast.
