Jhe Memphis Grizzlies (43-27) defeated the Golden State Warriors (36-36) Saturday at FedExForum on a night that saw Dillon Brooks beat Stephen Curry And Klay Thompson count its four NBA rings.
Brooks, 27, and Thompson, 33, kept talking trash after the game was over, with the latter reminding the former of his record.
Dillon Brooks, the new NBA villain
Thompson sat on the bench demonstrating with his fingers that he had won four championships, including his last, and told Brooks he had yet to win a single one.
Brooks clapped, nodding his head as if to tell Thompson he was coming back to his psyche.
Curry, 35, was limited to just 16 of 5 points for 15 shooting from the field and 3 for 8 from deep. He added five assists and eight rebounds in 30 minutes of action.
Dillon Brooks post-game interview
Brooks, who finished the game with 18 points, scored all four of his attempts from beyond the arc. He was electric for Memphis with Ja Morant due to behavioral issues.
During his post-match interview, Brooks admitted that he had only slept four hours, but it was easy to prepare for a game with so much chatter.
“They got Draymond talking, they got Klay talking, it’s easy to prepare for this game,” Brooks said. “I was ready. I only slept four hours and I was ready to go.”
The Warriors have now lost 11 straight road games, falling to the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference ranking. Their next two matches are on Monday at Houston Rockets and Wednesday at Dallas Mavericks.
