Dillian Whyte was not impressed with heavyweight rival Andy Ruiz Jr’s return fight against Chris Arreola on Saturday night.
The former heavyweight champion returned to the ring with a unanimous decision victory, despite being knocked down in the second round.
It was his first fight since losing to Anthony Joshua in December 2019.
Most observers felt that Ruiz Jr was doing enough to secure the victory over Arreola regardless of the knockdown, but Whyte thinks differently.
He has traded a lot of trash talk with Mexican heavyweights in the media over the past year as negotiations for a potential fight between them last year came to naught.
Whyte told iFL TV, “These guys make me laugh, man.
“These guys say that about me, say that about me – and you can’t stop Chris Arreola.
“I thought Chris Arreola won the fight to be honest, I had Chris Arreola winning by split decision.
“And I’m not saying that just because I don’t like this guy.”
“If I fought Chris Arreola tomorrow, I would put Chris Arreola in five rounds.
“This is what I should do, I should just go to America and fight Chris Arreola.
“Just to knock him out, to show Adam Kownacki and Andy Ruiz that they’re garbage and they need to get my name out of their mouths.”
“He showed Andy Ruiz his level, it’s his level. I’d knock out Chris Arreola.
Whyte also commented on two of his other heavyweight rivals recently.
The “ Body Snatcher ” commented on Deontay Wilder’s return to training.
He reposted the photo of the former WBC champion in his Instagram story and poked fun at the size of his legs with the caption: “No leg days.”
Whyte added in the iFL interview: “Her legs are even thinner than before, it’s crazy.”
After his victory over Alexander Povetkin in March, Whyte returned to his post as the WBC’s “ interim ” belt holder, meaning he’s apparently in line to become a mandatory challenger again.
Whyte concluded, “One thing I will say, if Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury doesn’t happen, the WBC has to order Fury to beat me.
“According to Fury, I’m an easy fight for him, so what better way for him than to fight against anyone?”
“Fury isn’t going to beat me, Fury is going to talk shit, he’s not going to beat me.”
“He’s gonna talk shit, fuck shit.”
