Diddy attempts to clear his name from the narrative that he steals money from his artists, especially former Bad Boy rapper Ma$e.
On Wednesday, October 5, Power 105.1’s The breakfast club aired a new interview with Diddy where the hip-hop mogul talked about never shaking anyone on his label, despite continued complaints from former artists like Ma$e still calling his old boss.
“Usually the Ma$e thing. I made an album with Ma$e. An album. How much money do you think I owe that guy,” Puff said in the 46th minute of the encounter in reference to Ma$e’s first album in 1997 Harlem World. “And then he became a fake pastor and went and scammed people. And y’all are gonna let him smear the name of the god. Anyone can come in. Bring your receipts. But I’m not playing. I’m back outside and I am fighting for us and I am also fighting for myself.
According to iTunes, Ma$e’s two follow-up albums, Happy to see you again and Double, were also released under Bad Boy. Diddy went on to claim that Ma$e owed him $3 million for an advance on an album he never delivered.
“Ma$e owes me $3 million,” Diddy said. “These are facts, I have the receipts.”
Diddy continued, “And I’m not going to go back and forth with Ma$e. I’m not going to go back and forth with anybody. I’m just going to speak for myself now.”
“Anyone who thinks I owe them, show me the receipt and you’ll be paid within 24 hours,” he added.
While Diddy faced numerous complaints from former artists for not getting paid, Ma$e was the most adamant. In March, Ma$e dropped Diddy’s apparent diss song “Oracle 2: Standing on Bodies,” where he called out Diddy for not doing well with his artists. In May, Ma$ea accused Puff of sabotaging one of his shows in Las Vegas. Ironically, Ma$ea faces the same complaints from Fivio Foreign artists, although Ma$e has denied the allegations.
XXL has reached out to the Ma$e team for comment.
