Deontay Wilder teams up with Eddie Hearn in shock move as full 5-on-5 lineup against Frank Warren announced

Deontay Wilder will face Zhilei Zhang as part of Eddie Hearn’s team to face Frank Warren on June 1 in Riyadh.

Rival promoters Hearn and Warren today announced the card for their “5-on-5” tag team clash, which will take place on the undercard of the undisputed showdown between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.

Wilder will be part of Team Matchroom in a June 1 clash with Zhang

Wilder teamed up with Matchroom Boxing promoter Hearn, with whom he had previously had a rivalry for several years, after his deal to face the stable’s Anthony Joshua repeatedly fell through.

The ‘Bronze Bomber’ has now settled his dispute with Hearn and will be part of his team as they try to get back on track with a victory over Zhang.

He looked lackluster in his last clash with Joseph Parker, struggling from a points defeat in December, but hopes a comeback victory could reignite his plans to touch gloves with Joshua later in 2024.

Another huge heavyweight showdown is on the bill for the team format, with Warren’s Daniel Dubois dueling with Filip Hrgovic, who partners Hearn.

The two men are expected to meet for the IBF world heavyweight title, which the winner of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk will likely have to vacate after their May 18 showdown.

Further world title action will take place with Hearn’s WBA world featherweight champion Ray Ford defending his title against Nick Ball – who fights for Warren’s Queensberry.

Ball was unable to win the WBC belt after coming unlucky in a controversial draw with Rey Vargas in December, but hopes to become world champion at the second time of asking.

Warren’s mercurial prospect Hamzah Sheeraz will fight with undefeated Hearn talent Ammo Williams in another promising clash in the middleweight division.

Frank Warren vs Eddie Hearn Full 5v5 Lineup

Zhilei Zhang vs. Deontay Wilder (heavyweight)

Daniel Dubois vs. Filip Hrgovic (vacant IBF Heavyweight world title)

Nick Ball vs. Ray Ford (Ford’s WBA featherweight world title)

Willy Hutchinson vs. Craig Richards (light-heavyweight)

Hamzah Sheeraz vs. Ammo Williams (middleweight)

And to open the card, Warren’s light heavyweight Willy Hutchinson will face Craig Richards, who has rekindled his working relationship with Hearn.

It’s a huge night of action, with mouth-watering clashes that will put rivals Warren and Hearn in a direct head-to-head for the very first time.

Boxing promoter Frank Warren teases ‘super event’ at Wembley in September ahead of Riyadh season in Saudi Arabia

The two buried their feud under the control of Saudi boxing chief HE Turki Alalshikh and will now compete to earn points for each fight in the tournament.

A winner will be declared at the end of the card, based on which promotion has accumulated the most points.
