Dejounte Murray is one of the best young point guards in the league. He’s well known for being a solid all-around player, and last season Murray had a heavy load for the San Antonio Spurs at both ends of the court.
This summer, Dejounte Murray was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Danilo Gallinari and three first-round picks. Superstar point guard Trae Young has previously expressed his excitement over the Murray acquisition, saying the point guard can make the Hawks a championship-level team.
I just know what type of player he is. I know what he can bring to our team. I want to win championships in Atlanta. I think he can finally help us get to that level. We made the playoffs, we ran, but he can take us to the next level.
Obviously, Dejounte Murray is now part of a good team. The Atlanta Hawks clearly have talent and they already made an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals before acquiring Murray.
Dejounte Murray wants basketball back
Many fans are ready for the return of basketball, and no doubt many Hawks fans are ready to see their star backcourt in action. It looks like Dejounte Murray himself is ready for the start of the season and the return of basketball.
Dejounte Murray recently posted a message on Twitter telling NBA basketball to “hurry up” and get back. There’s no doubt that it’s been a long offseason, and many die-hard basketball fans are probably feeling the exact same way.
It’s understandable that Dejounte Murray is eager for the season to begin. The Atlanta Hawks look like a team that could potentially surprise many with their quality, and Dejounte Murray will be part of one of the deadliest duos in the league. This new situation is probably preferable to tanking with the San Antonio Spurs, who are clearly entering a full-scale rebuild.
Hopefully we see Dejounte Murray having a productive season. Obviously, he will always be used and hit a lot as the No. 2 option on the Atlanta Hawks. However, he will have to learn to co-exist with another guard dominating the ball, and it will be interesting to see how he and Trae Young fit together.
From now on though, Dejounte Murray will have to wait out the season like everyone else. He’s been in some off-season pro-am races, but obviously that’s not the same as playing in the NBA.
