Rob Liefeld has always been a very vocal and regularly controversial presence among comic book and movie fans, but the Deadpool creator is about to stir up a potential hornet’s nest among DC fans after making some comments about black adam this could be interpreted as derogatory.
The character made his first appearance on the printed page in December 1945 and was a mainstay of various DC publications for nearly half a century, but it wouldn’t be too unfair to suggest that Teth-Adam was hardly a household name on the same scale as contemporaries like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman or even Flash, Green Arrow and Aquaman.
With that in mind, you can understand where Liefeld’s recent tweet came from, but it’s meant to irritate many long-time readers, as has already been made clear in the various comments and replies.
To Liefeld’s defense, even director Jaume Collet-Serra admitted he hadn’t heard of the title hero until he was pitched the project by the star, producer and Jungle Cruise collaborator Dwayne Johnson, and a lot of people will be in the same boat when it comes to Black Adam.
Diehard comic book readers and the casual movie audience are two completely different beasts, but the former should be happy that the latter is finding out who Black Adam is, what he stands for, and how he lends itself to being a superhero. spectacular, which is driven by the presence of the biggest movie star on the planet in the lead role.
