David de Gea won’t want to look back!
The Manchester United goalkeeper made a huge mistake in Sunday’s game against Everton to concede in the opening minutes.
Seemingly safe with multiple pass options, De Gea waited until Dominic Calvert-Lewin was drawn and decided to kick the ball up.
However, he smashed the ball directly into Calvert-Lewin and rebounded directly into the bottom of Manchester United’s goal.
Not a big show for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, fans of Man United, or De Gea himself.
And the mistake becomes even more worrisome when you consider that it is not unique to the previously infallible glover.
Mistakes were never part of De Gea’s game until his form disappeared last season, but now he makes them with alarming regularity.
In fact, he has been at the top of the list for most mistakes leading directly to a goal since the start of the 2018/19 Premier League season.
His seven errors put him at the top of the standings alongside Martin Dubravka of Newcastle, Bernd Leno, the Arsenal goalkeeper and another shooter.
But who is this last goalkeeper prone to errors?
None other than Jordan Pickford, who joined De Gea on seven errors shortly after the Spaniard’s early error.
A long range shot from Bruno Fernandes seemed like an easy save for England’s Pickford goalkeeper, but he let the ball fly into his hand and into the back of the net.
So after Everton took the lead through a goalkeeper error, they ended up losing their minds because of the same thing too.
It is clearly not a day for men between posts!
