Darwin Nunez is still looking for his first goal at Anfield, but Liverpool fans have been urged not to panic.

The Reds’ record signing made another blank in the 2-0 win over Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

It continues a slow start to the Uruguayan’s career in England and talkSPORT host Jason Cundy admitted Nunez still has a long way to go.

“Liverpool last season would have had four or five against Rangers,” Cundy said on The Sports Bar.

“It’s a bit disappointing. At 2-0, this game is not over and Rangers had a few chances towards the end.

“He’s just joined Liverpool, it’s a huge football club and a huge fee, but he’s yet to reach Sadio Mane’s levels.

“It’s difficult because Mane was one of the best in Europe. So he has a long way to go.

However, England legend Stuart Pearce insists that while Erling Haaland had an astonishing start at Manchester City, others may struggle before establishing themselves as superstars.

He points to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Reds hero Mohamed Salah as examples to reassure Nunez.

Pearce told talkSPORT Breakfast: “It’s very difficult to settle in this country. Henry is a prime example.

“He wasn’t the best player the Premier League had ever seen when he arrived.

“We are talking about people who have not settled in very well. All Nunez has to do is turn his head, look right and see Mo Salah.

“He came to this country, he didn’t make it, he left, he has more self-esteem, now look at him.

“There are so many examples.”
