“The Sex Pistols. At its center was a charming young illiterate kleptomaniac – a hero for the time – Steve Jones, who became, in his own words, the 94th greatest guitarist of all time. This is how he got there.

Anchored by the memoir of Jones, which offers a fascinating new perspective on one of the greatest rock stories of all time, Pistol moves from West London council estates, to Vivienne’s famous Kings Road SEX shop Westwood and Malcolm McLaren, to the international controversy that accompanied the release of Never mind the B * llocks.

Their single ‘God Save the Queen’ was banned by the BBC and reached No.1 on the UK’s NME charts, but appeared at No.2 on the official UK Singles charts, leading to charges that the song was deliberately kept out of the top spot.
