Danish roof window manufacturer Velux has implemented Microsoft projecta management system based on Microsoft Power Platform, as a standard enterprise solution for all project and portfolio management (PPM).
The solution, which was previously used by 2,000 employees, has been rolled out to all Velux product development teams, including project managers, developers, technical project managers, product managers, project managers procurement and portfolio managers. In doing so, the company has enabled a higher degree of collaboration within and between product development projects.
“It’s not just a project manager who can update project master data; it’s all project participants, who can now work as a team in this hybrid environment,” said Anders Fogh, product development process and operations manager at Velux, in a recent Microsoft customer story.
Velux first developed the PPM tool with help from Microsoft partner Fellowmind in August 2021 to unify its data and provide an easy-to-use interface for hybrid working. As of December 2021, Velux has trained over 200 employees and migrated around 1,000 projects.
“When we revisited our operating model, we quickly realized we needed a single source of truth,” Fogh said. “A solution that could unify our projects and not only give us project management efficiency, but also portfolio management capabilities. Having a standardized way of working with a cloud solution like the PPM platform we built with Microsoft Project for the web is a testament to new ways of working.
The new PPM solution has helped projects run more consistently and Velux’s satisfaction score has more than doubled.
“It has been a privilege to help Velux support its sustainability strategy and develop a PPM tool across the organization – moving from legacy solutions and methods to modern and efficient ways of working by focusing on clear objectives and setting decisive priorities,” said Peter Kjær. , senior PPM consultant at Fellowmind.
“With Project and Power Platform features, such as seamless Microsoft Power BI integrations, we finally have our complete portfolio on one system,” said Martin Sørensen, Senior Solutions Architect for Product Development at Velux. “This was possible because Project has the flexibility to handle many different types of projects and methodologies.”
