“Mean Girls” star Daniel Franzese said Ariana Grande made her product line more inclusive after telling her her size was not available.
Franzese opened up about her friendship with the pop star in an interview with Insider for the 17th anniversary of “Mean Girls,” the movie that also inspired Grande’s “Thank U, Next” music video.
The actor said they were mutual friends via Instagram years before Grande’s worldwide fame thanks to her role as Damian on “Mean Girls” and that she adjusted his product after a conversation with him.
In 2018, Grande released merchandise from her track “No Tears Left to Cry” from her album “Sweetener”. She sent sweaters to the influences and Franzese didn’t have any, but he decided to buy one himself “because she supports me so much”.
They weren’t wearing his size, so he mentioned that the next time they spoke. Franzese said she immediately asked for her size so she could buy her a sweater, then took it a step further and expanded all of her products to 3XL to accommodate more fans.
“She sent me two gigantic moving boxes, huge boxes filled with all of her products in 3XL and everything else in all other sizes,” Franzese said of Grande, who also gave her, to he and his nieces, tickets in the front row to see her in concert. In Miami.
“I just like it,” Franzese said. “She’s so cool.”
Franzese also told Insider that when Grande came up with the concept for her “TUN” video, she asked him to participate.
But the filming date kept changing and eventually the filming date conflicted with the opening dates of his comedy tour. He wanted to be a part of the video but had already committed to his tour, so he asked Grande for a rain check.
Franzese said he “liked” the clip, which featured “Mean Girls” star Jonathan Bennett reprising his role as Aaron Samuels.
The actor also said he’s not sure what his role in the video would have entailed, but it could have shown him wearing the hoodie and sunglasses from his iconic “she’s not going” moment. not even here “in the auditorium.
“It would have been fun to be a part of, yeah,” Franzese said. “But I also feel like I want to reprise this character so much, that if I wanted to do it, it would have to be on screen. It would have to be something big.”
The actor has stated that if he represents Damian again, he would want to advance the character’s story in a meaningful way.
“There is a danger,” he said. “This character is really part of my identity. Everyone knows me for that. So I have to be careful with that too. I don’t want to name anyone, but I’ve seen other actors from other movies repeat their characters. . in places and it hurt them. There’s just something about it that’s so sacred. “
