Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence raised a few eyebrows this week when he said he was unsure if he would turn pro after this season when he is expected to be the first overall pick in the NFL Draft 2021. Lawrence’s coach, however, believes Lawrence is in his final year of college football.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has said he expects Lawrence to do what virtually all top prospects do and get paid as soon as he can.
“I mean, we’ll definitely let him stay if that’s what he wants to do. But I would be surprised if he’s back with the Tigers next year, but who knows? We never know. I didn’t think Christian Wilkins would return, but he did, ”Swinney said on Sirius XM, via ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
Lawrence has got off to a good start for No.1 Clemson this season. He will likely play in the college football playoffs, and that will be the end of his amateur career.
