Erivo shares that the theatrical setting of the presentation was worth it. “The production design of the show was really beautiful – a post-apocalyptic, alien vibe – and the music was really great,” says Erivo. As someone who frequently wears Vuitton on the red carpet, Erivo was also eyeing designer Nicolas Ghesquière’s new pieces and eyeing looks for future appearances. “My favorite look was the halter-neck black leather dress that looks like the buckle boots that were on the show two seasons ago,” she says. “There was a cream sash at the neck and a massive cream sash at the hem of the dress. It was my favorite.
Naturally, as a red carpet star and fashion lover, Erivo needed her own front row look. Dressed by Jason Bolden, she chose Vuitton’s bronze criss-cross top, which she paired with high-waisted leather harem pants. “It proves [Bolden and Vuitton] were keeping that look for me,” says Erivo. “I guess they know me well enough to know that I like dangerous things and bold things. I like what it was, it was very Egyptian. She completed the look with a monogrammed Vuitton bag at top handle and towering platforms.”Louis understands my love for high heels,” she says (remember: this woman just ran a marathon).
Now that her marathon and Paris Fashion Week are over, Erivo will now get back to work preparing for 2024 Nasty– his next musical with Ariana Grande (Erivo will play the wicked witch Elphaba; Grande will play Glinda the good witch). She can’t tell us much about the project just yet, but she gives us some insight. “Preparation for filming is going really well,” says Erivo. “You can hopefully expect a wonderful story about two brilliant women trying to figure it all out. And lots of great singing.
