What is the difference between a mirrorless camera and a digital SLR camera?
When shopping for a new camera, one of the most important things to determine is whether you want a mirrorless camera or a DSLR camera.

DSLRs tend to be a bit more traditional, using the same general design that cameras have had for years. There is a mirror inside of them which is used to reflect the light that enters the lens, which then goes to the viewfinder so you can see what you are photographing. As soon as you press the shutter button, a DSLR’s mirror actually moves. It’s facing up, your camera’s shutter is open, and a photo is saved once light hits the sensor.
This means that DSLRs tend to be a bit bulkier than mirrorless cameras, but they also generally see more affordable prices. If you’re on a smaller budget and don’t mind putting on a little more weight, a DSLR is a great way to go.
As the name suggests, mirrorless cameras don’t have a mirror at all.
