The 27th Annual Critics Choice Awards are being presented right now in Los Angeles, and Deadline is updating the winners as they’re announced. Check the list below and update it for updates.
Jessica Chastain won Best Actress for Searchlight Tammy Faye’s eyes, and Will Smith followed with Best Actor for Warner Bros’ King Richard. When the speech of the latter lasted a little, the music of the play-offs was linked. “Best Actor should have a little more time,” Smith said with a laugh. “I say it like that.”
Smith also won in the category at the BAFTA Awards earlier today.
Troy Kutser won the top Movie of the Night Award, Supporting Actor for Apple CODA, and Ariana DeBose then took on the supporting actress for West Side Story. Both also won the BAFTA Awards today.

Belfast won for Acting Ensemble, and Focus Features’ Picture Jude Hill also won the CCA for Young Actor/Actress. Accepting the casting award, star Jamie Dornan said: “As a Belfast man, I can’t stress enough how important it is to tell a story about a place where people don’t really have a clear idea of it. … without a politicized or military lens, seeing it through the eyes of the family – something we can all relate to in Ukraine, the families going through this ordeal.
Ted Lasso had a great evening. The Apple TV+ show won Best Comedy Series and Jason Sudeikis won Best Actor. The show’s Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein won the respective TV Awards for Actress and Supporting Actor.

Winningham accepted the comedy award for Ted Lasso. “Our beautiful brothers and sisters – and more importantly babies – in Ukraine who are completely decimated right now by this putrid, putrid torrent of abuse,” she said from London. “Please think of them as much as you can and give as much as you can. Stop it, please.
Jean Smart won Best Actress in a Comedy for HBO Max’s hacks. She and Sudeikis also won the Emmys last year, as did Ted Lasso for the comedy series.
2022 Awards Season Schedule – Dates for the Oscars, SAG, BAFTAs and more
The White Lotus Murray Bartlett and Jennifer Coolidge won the night’s top two awards – actor and actress in a limited series – for the HBO show. Kieran Culkin took on the supporting actor in a drama series for Succession, and the series’ Sarah Snook followed with the Supporting Actress win.
Michael Keaton won Best Actor in a Limited Series for Hulu’s Sick.
Until there, JEd Lasso leads the pack with four wins. Belfast, Succession and the white lotus are the only other double winners among movies and TV shows. HBO has six wins and Apple TV+ has four with one for Apple Original Films. Focus Features, Warner Bros and Netflix have two each.
Taye Diggs and Nicole Byer are hosting the Intercontinental Ceremony from the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel, while the London stars will gather at the Savoy Hotel for a late night party that is expected to be part of the telecast.
Belfast and West Side Story lead this year’s movie contenders, having earned 11 nominations each. Both are up for Best Picture, with CODA, Don’t Look Up, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog and tick, tick… BOOM! This almost mirrors the list of best pictures from the Oscars, with only tick, tick… BOOM! not in the running for the Oscar.
Emmy Winner Succession leads this year’s TV nominees with eight.
Bruised Star producer-director Halle Berry received the SeeHer Award from Issa Rae tonight. “I knew exactly the power of this story because I said if you were having a hard time, if it made you uncomfortable watching this story, imagine being this woman living this story. We really need to see each other’s reality, no matter how uncomfortable it makes us, in order to stop judging and pointing to numbers, and instead find compassion and empathy for others.
Billy Crystal received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Jimmy Kimmel tonight. “The first laughs I had in my life are the fuel my engine still burns today,” he said. “I dedicate this award to these amazing people in our living room in Long Beach, Long Island.”
The six-time Emmy winner also spoke about foreign affairs, saying, “I pray that somehow there can be laughter and joy again in this part of the world. “
The 2021 Critics Choice Awards aren’t generally seen as a barometer of potential Oscar fortunes, with its more populist tendencies, but nomadland won Best Picture last year and went on to win the Best Picture Oscar. Filmmaker Chloe Zhao won the CCA trophies for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
The Critics Choice Association — no apostrophe, please — hands out the awards. The ceremony was originally scheduled for January 9, a date that was canceled when NBC canceled the 2022 Golden Globes – but it was moved to tonight as the Omicron variant of Covid spread. (The non-televised Globes ceremony finally took place on this date.)
