Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister has accused Portugal coach Fernando Santos of ‘humiliating’ her brother.
Ronaldo replaced Switzerland 6-1 for his country in the World Cup round of 16, coming off the bench in a major tournament for the first time since 2004.

Portugal boss Santos made the explosive decision to leave the team captain out of his line-up, and was richly rewarded as his replacement Goncalo Ramos went wild.
The 21-year-old Benfica striker scored a hat-trick on his first-ever start for the senior side, while Ronaldo joined the fray as a 73rd-minute substitute but was left without a impact on the game.
The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus superstar was clearly shocked by his omission as photographers around the world gathered at the dugout, and his sister was equally surprised.
Posting an image of the team on Instagram, Elma Aveiro wrote: “Today we are all together, if you think it has to be like this I’m here to see it.
After a follower replied that she ‘couldn’t believe’ Ronaldo had been let down and called it a ‘major injustice’, Elma posted another message.
“I don’t know why and I don’t understand it, but I’m sure we’ll get God’s answers later, he’s not failing, let’s see,” she wrote.

However, as it emerged that Ronaldo was uninjured and was left on the bench, Elma again posted another Instagram Story after the victory, first congratulating his country.
She then continued: “Yes Ronaldo is not forever, yes Ronaldo won’t play forever, unfortunately he doesn’t score goals now, he’s old, Portugal don’t need Ronaldo [clapping emojis].
“We talked about what we heard, everything he did is not important, everything he did was forgotten.
“Now they ask for forgiveness and they don’t need him anymore. I’ll record it and later we’ll talk.
“Rui Santos, why is he going to apologize? Now we can fuck whoever we want.
“It’s a shame to humiliate a man who has given so much, but later I will see so much more.”
