Cristiano Ronaldo looked away in delight as he netted Portugal’s first goal in their World Cup win over Uruguay.
After the former Manchester United player went to direct Bruno Fernandes’ cross from the left, the ball beat Uruguayan goalkeeper Sergio Rochet in the 54th minute.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner raced towards the corner flag as he, his Portuguese team-mates and his fans celebrated their header.
His celebrations strongly suggest he believes he’s gotten the finishing touches, however, replays aren’t so conclusive.
Ronaldo was awarded the goal first, which would have seen him level with Portuguese icon Eusebio for the World Cup goals (nine).
However, the goal was later awarded to Fernandes with replays suggesting the 37-year-old failed to touch it.
Ronaldo was substituted in the 82nd minute as Fernando Santos’ side looked to see the result.
Fernandes then got his second of the night with a controversial penalty to seal a 2-0 victory and Portugal’s place in the last 16.
