Crash on Eddie Murphy’s The Pickup set saw two stunt vehicles collide and go off the road – with eight people hospitalized after some were ‘thrown’ from the cars

More details have been revealed in a horrific accident on Saturday on the set of Eddie Murphy’s new film The Pickup, which saw eight people hospitalized after a stunt went horribly wrong.

Filming on the production – also starring Keke Palmer – was halted after the accident which saw an armored vehicle hit a car traveling alongside it during filming.

Both vehicles then left the road and both overturned, rolling several times in harrowing footage of the crash obtained by TMZ.

First responders took eight people to the hospital after the crash began, the Georgia State Patrol confirmed to People.

Two crew members who were seated in the rear of the armored vehicle were ejected when the vehicle’s rear doors opened, sustaining life-threatening injuries.

A third passenger in that rear area – five crew members were in the rear of the armored vehicle – was also seriously injured, although he was not ejected, according to GSP.

Five people were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and three others to WellStar Cobb Medical Center in Austell, Ga., for treatment.

One of them remains hospitalized with a back injury, according to the New York Times.

The accident took place during a “second unit action sequence” that had already been rehearsed, according to an Amazon spokesperson.

“Unfortunately, the sequence did not go as planned and several crew members were injured,” the spokesperson said.

“We are still gathering the facts about what happened and why, but our thoughts are first and foremost with those who are recovering.”

“The well-being of the entire crew and cast is our first priority, and we will continue to insist on the highest safety standards in the industry during filming. All safety precautions were reviewed before and monitored during filming.

On Tuesday, the Associated Press reported that the incident was a car accident that occurred when a truck “stuck” and hit another vehicle.

“It was a completely freak accident,” an anonymous source told the AP, adding that the stunt performed was not considered particularly dangerous.

The source said two crew members were hospitalized due to the accident and another remained in hospital on Tuesday.

The injuries “ranged from bumps and bruises to broken bones.”

The IATSE crew union also released a statement saying, “IATSE is aware of an accident that occurred on the set of The Pickup in Georgia and has opened an investigation.

The film’s plot is being kept under wraps, although Deadline reports that the film will be a heist comedy.

The film also stars Eva Longoria and Pete Davidson.

Last month, the duo was spotted on set in Atlanta and appeared to be sporting sparkles. The actress, 49, had a bruise on her face, courtesy of the makeup department.
