Country music singer Jake Flint died just hours after marrying his wife Brenda over the weekend, his publicist has announced. He was 37 years old.
Clif Doyal told The Oklahoman that the “Hard Livin'” crooner died in his sleep shortly after he and Brenda exchanged vows. No cause of death has been announced.
“Jake Flint was an ambassador for the Oklahoma Red Dirt music scene. He was a prolific songwriter, recording artist, and live performer in high demand throughout the Midwest and Southwest United States. of his kindness and humanity, he was also a tireless supporter of his fellow artists, always ready to lend a hand to help anyone who needed it,” Doyal’s statement read.
“With his infectious smile and disarming sense of humor, he was loved by many, and I believe that, along with his music, will be his lasting legacy.”
Brenda addressed her late husband’s passing in a statement posted to Instagram in which she mourned the memories she should have enjoyed.
“We should go through wedding photos, but instead I have to choose clothes to bury my husband,” she wrote.
“People aren’t supposed to feel this much pain. My heart is gone and I really need it back. I can not stand it anymore. I need him here.
Jake’s former manager and friend Brenda Cline also mourned the loss of the singer who she considered “a bit like a son”.
“With broken hearts and in deep sorrow, I must announce that Jake Flint has tragically passed away,” she wrote on Facebook early Monday.
“We were about to go into business together after he and Brenda got married, that was yesterday. Yes, yesterday.
