It’s been a mega year for superstar Taylor Swift.
His latest album Midnights, released in October, broke several Spotify records shortly after its release.
Last month was another big win for the singer, after she became the first artist in history to have it. songs make up the entire US top ten.
Taylor Swift’s new musical offering has so far met with huge success in countries around the world, including Australia.
His song Anti-Hero currently tops the Australian Music Charts (ARIA) Top 50 Singles list.
The song has remained in pole position for the past six weeks, but a frog calls album could knock Taylor’s popular track out of the top spot!
Scientists want to raise awareness of Australia’s declining frog population by releasing an album of frog sounds.
It is a collaboration between several organizations including the Australian Museum, FrogID and the Bowerbird Collective.
The 50-minute album, titled The Songs of Disappearance, is made up of frog calls collected by researchers and citizen scientists.
Over 17,000 submissions have been submitted for the album and it features over 40 of Australia’s most endangered frogs.
Scientists say the unusual album aims to raise awareness of the declining frog population in the country, with species like the the spotted tree frog and the green thighed tree frog are affected.
Listeners will be able to hear unusual gurgles, growls and even squeals according to Dr. Rowley, who is a scientist in the field and a manager of the FrogID project.
“I hope the frogs can do it,” said Dr Rowley when asked if the frogs could hit Taylor Swift’s No. 1 chart spot on ABC Australia Radio Canberra.
“It’s an amazing album for a really good cause and we’ve had a really good response so far. So, fingers crossed.
“I really hope that these calls, especially these endangered species, ignite the spark in people to make sure that future generations can hear these calls and that we don’t deprive them of this opportunity.”
This is not the first time that an album of this kind has been published by scientists.
Last year, a bird calls album found success in Australia after entering the ARIA charts at No. 5 just a week after its release.
He beat out several top artists whose songs are hugely popular at Christmas, including Mariah Carey, Michael Bublé and Abba.
