Conor McGregor hasn’t made a massive donation to his former gym.
On Friday, it was widely reported that ‘Notorious’ had offered €1million to the Crumlin Boxing Club after a TikTok account linked to the famous Dublin training space suggested it was.

A since-deleted video was captioned: “Conor McGregor paid €1,000,000 to extend Crumlin boxing club making it the best boxing club on the planet and top 3 trainers too Philip, Bra and Stephen .”
It has been suggested that McGregor’s ‘gift to the club’ would allow them to add two more floors to the site and put in facilities that will help them compete with the best gyms in the world.
Crumlin Boxing Club administrator and trainer Philip Sutcliffe claimed the message was posted by “someone who isn’t even really involved with the club”.
He told Sunday World: “I don’t know where they get their €1m from. There are plans in place for a redevelopment, which were orchestrated four years ago, and it is still happening.
“But this thing that has gone viral now about a million euro donation is just something that someone posted online without ever getting in touch with the club.
“They haven’t contacted me and I’m the admin…no one has contacted anyone from the club and the person who posted it is someone who isn’t even really involved with the club. “

Despite this, Sutcliffe praised his most famous pupil for sponsoring the club on several occasions and insisted he would help them redevelop the site at some point.
He added “We are a big club but like any boxing club it is very difficult to keep a club open.
“Conor will help with the redevelopment of the club, but not just now because he has so many projects going on.”
Since his MMA debut in 2008, McGregor has trained at Straight Blast Gym in Ireland under John Kavanagh who has helped him achieve great things in the sport.

They accomplished great things together
Prior to getting into MMA, McGregor learned how to punch at the Crumlin Boxing Club and he always had a strong relationship with the gym despite his incredible success in combat sports.
The 34-year-old returned to his old stomping ground sporadically over the years to train with Sutcliffe who he credits with teaching him the basics of boxing which he still uses today.
McGregor told Irish Boxing in 2020: “Phil Sutcliffe is a phenomenal boxing trainer and during my time under Phil at the Crumlin Boxing Club I learned so many fundamentals that I still carry with me today.
“I learned so many moves from Phil and the coaching staff there and the fight with Phil Sutcliffe Jnr on my debut was phenomenal, it took me to the next level that I feel.”
