Since its creation in 2008, comicpalooza was Texas’ premier multi-format convention celebrating comics, cartoons, TV shows, movies, and games reaching over 45,000 attendees in 2019. After being canceled in 2020 and an exciting return in 2021, this year’s spectacular will take place over three days, July 15-17. The supercharged weekend features exhibitions, an art auction, panel discussions, retro games and celebrity guests.
Known for bringing out the biggest stars in TV and film, the convention has a long list of former guests. The extensive catalog includes new Captain America, Anthony Mackie and Mike Colter, Krysten Ritter and Charlie Cox from Marvel’s The Defenders. Also in attendance were WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus and Amy Lita Dumas. And we can’t forget to mention the presence of the highly acclaimed Lone Texas Ranger, Chuck Norris, and Machete himself, Danny Trejo.
This year, award-winning voice actor and Houston native David Mantraga, the voice of Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia, will be joined by fellow actors Justin Cook, Emily Neves, Trina Nishimura and Chris Wehkamp. Other celebrity appearances include Edward James Olmos, best known for his role as Lt. Martin Castillo in Miami Vice, Robert Patrick from Terminator 2 and Sons of Anarchy, and Lance Reddick, famous for his role as Charon in the John Wick franchise. .
